Homework

Beginning in January, each child will have a homework journal and calendar for short daily assignments.  This will be explained in detail at that time. 

When homework is assigned, I expect it to be returned the next day unless otherwise noted.  The children are to follow the directions and their name must be on the assignment.  They will be taught to put all papers in the appropriate box in the classroom.  If all of these things are accomplished, a sticker is earned on the chart in the child's folder.  If an assignment is returned late, it is still checked and a sticker can be earned on the paper, but not on the chart.  I know that parents often say "It was my fault, I forgot to put it in the folder", but this is where responsibility comes to play and the child needs to remember to put the paper in the folder/backpack as soon as it is completed.

Besides assigned homework, be sure to keep up with the skills you see coming home daily.  Go over the letters, sounds, numbers and sight words that your child is learning.
